Day Unless Noted is one of the most experimental Reversed Reference albums I’ve enjoyed listening to so far. Two side-long compositions keep the focus nice and simple, just on the work, not what the work might mean.
The title track sounds like life in a far-off future where running from things may be just as vital as running to things, just to survive with this tune inside your head, let alone thrive in this yet-unknown world. A(eon)F
One of Bluescreen’s famed j-card comp series entries (evenly distributed across the vapor-friendly internet over the years), Spacelounge was my first introduction to what is now Harmony Index.
So many winning tracks, and the sequence is just as smooth and sinister as the vibes, in step with true retro-futurism as much as the sounds of exhausted imaginations of today, seeking results, not content just to dream for dreaming’s sake. A(eon)F
The enigmatic Frank Ene's solo record lives in a magical world where Serge Gainsbourg fronts Yellow Magic Orchestra. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 17, 2022
Valyri is another creative force whose work I admire and study, but what makes this album most special amongst her hundreds of albums is just how gentle and comfortingly-cinematic “home, for the first time” is to get lost in. There is a knowable quality to this music, portals created by allowing the noise of everyday life into the mix, sitting with the same degree of intentionality as the rest of the orchestra and choir, leading us from one “room” to another in this “home”.
